social health model

At Four Directions Centre for Social Health Inc. leaders work with client populations under the following social health model:

Four Directional Social Health refers to the connectivity between the individual and all facets of life that interact with and thus affect the individual in any given environment. With awareness of the reciprocal nature of physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual exchange between self and other when addressing the quality of health and wellness, it is essential to consider the health quality of each level of the social structure the individual interacts with; with additional focus on the climate that is created from such interaction.

Social structures include various levels to which the individual is impacted depending on how immediately close the individual is to the particular system.

With an understanding of the interactive nature of social health, Four Directions Centre for Social Health Inc. practices under the belief system that it takes a strong and healthy village to not only raise a child but maintain wellness in an independent person. Through dedication to restoring balance within the circle of social living, we work with a perspective where the individual receiving service is the compass point. Through the desired direction to travel, a social health model is integrated to cooperatively and collectively assist in supporting the individual, while working in partnership with community supports to provide comprehensive sustainable care.

To maintain balance and continuity within the circle, our goal is to provide participants with abundant opportunity for personal empowerment. In doing so, healthy means to heal, restore and develop may be accessible be able to complete the cycle of social wellness.
